What Does Black History Month Mean To Me By Lola

Black history month means a lot to me. It means a lot to me because it's a lot of my history. It's part of my history because I'm black. I've learned that Abe Lincoln at first didn't intend to free the slaves, and that Jim Crow Laws were very harsh to black people. That Martin Luther King was a priest and loved the Lord.Martin Luther King Junior had a great speech called I have a dream and that speech I love to hear because it's talking about how some people don't like blacks, and he was one. But that doesn't stop him from preaching he has been put in jail at least two to three times. I have learned about the jazz men and my favorite one is Fats Waller who played piano. He made faces to entertain people while he played. One of my favorite illustrators that is black is Kadir Nelson. My favorite book by him is Heart and Soul. One reason is because it has tons of facts I didn't know before. That is what Black History Month means to me.
